Engineering Services

Engineering Services from Robota

Building a new device, debugging a prototype, or revising a shipping product? Tell us where you need engineering help.

Robota designs and builds precision hardware, firmware, and software in Dallas, Texas. The engineering behind our RTK GNSS receivers, drone light show systems, and hosted GNSS tools is available for your product.

Robota began building navigation products in 2011. Today the work spans circuit boards, the firmware on them, the software that talks to them, and the services that keep a fleet updated. You work directly with Robota's lead engineer, with specialist contractors brought in as the project needs them.

What We Do

Engineering capabilities

Hardware & Firmware

Embedded firmware and PCB design

We design circuit boards and write the firmware that runs on them: STM32-based RoboGlow flight controllers of our own design, and RoboDot Touch, which pairs a u-blox ZED-F9P receiver and our own LoRa radio board with an off-the-shelf ESP32 module running our MicroPython firmware and device interface.

  • Schematic and PCB design for microcontroller products
  • STM32 and ESP32 firmware: control loops, sensors, power, radios
  • Bootloaders, over-the-air updates, browser-based flashing and recovery

Software & SaaS

Custom software and SaaS development

We build and operate our own web services: RoboGNSS, a hosted NTRIP caster; ShowPlotter, drone show site planning; Warblet, a platform for connected devices; Docsary, our documentation engine; and the robota.us portal that manages RoboDot fleets, subscriptions, and firmware releases.

  • Web applications and APIs with authentication, billing, and admin tooling
  • Device-to-cloud pipelines: provisioning, telemetry, fleet updates
  • Desktop control software such as GloCS, our drone show ground station

GNSS & Sensors

GNSS engineering

Precision navigation is where Robota started, and RoboDot is where GNSS became the product: an RTK base, rover, and logger designed end to end. We ship the whole correction chain, from receiver setup and base stations through NTRIP casting and LoRa links to RINEX conversion for OPUS and PPP.

  • RTK and PPK workflows for surveying, mapping, and unmanned vehicles
  • NTRIP infrastructure: casters, network RTK/VRS client integration, correction forwarding
  • GNSS, IMU, and radio integration on custom boards

Product Development

Product design and development

When a product needs hardware, firmware, and software to work together, we develop and bench-test the prototypes the way we build our own: prove the hard parts early and plan the update path from day one. Production requirements and validation responsibilities are agreed before the next phase begins.

  • Feasibility and architecture: parts, radio and power budgets, cost targets
  • Prototype boards and firmware, iterated on the bench
  • Production test, provisioning tools, and documentation for the manufacturing phase
